Tony Gillam
Indie folk pop singer-songwriter Tony Gillam has finally settled down to release his first full-length CD for Bizib Music Untangle the Strings. The upshot is a weathered and wise music, the capricious, sometimes cryptic lyrics set to a soundtrack that is quintessentially of the British Isles and folky but far from traditional, evoking the sound of The Strawbs, Donovan, Cat Stevens, Aztec Camera, The Waterboys and Echo and The Bunnymen. Don’t be fooled by the use of traditional instruments - dulcimers, autoharps, even the odd xylophone - the sound is just too ... groovy to be folk. For Untangle the Strings, Tony is joined by his Bizib collaborators bassist George Krstic and drummer Phil Richards. If the Lovin’ Spoonful had been from Worcestershire they might have sounded like this.
